2nt / 3day tour of Belgium leaving/returning from Amsterdam?

Hi,

Can anyone suggest a tour service or company that offers a 2 or 3 day trip from Amsterdam to Brugge and Brussels, or Brugge and Ghent? Maybe even just Brugge. One day seems like too much to try and squeeze in, and the train isn%26#39;t an option for my parents who are 70 years old.

Thanks

Sorry, don%26#39;t know if there are tour-operators serving you... But the center of Brugge is easy to get by by train, and you can always book a sightseeing trip in Brugge itself. If you would like to combine city%26#39;s I sugest rather Brussels instead of Ghent.

Of course I don%26#39;t agree. So many people know Brussels already, while our American visitors (we hosted them twice) were absolutely thrilled because they considered Ghent as a %26#39;hidden gem%26#39;, ignored by almost everyone, because Bruges and Brussels are the most obvious choices.

Come on, bigwnfan, be adventurous and dare to travel off the beaten track! :-) You wont%26#39;t be disappointed, promise!

Brussels tour companies offer organised 1-day coach trips to Amsterdam but even they don%26#39;t do 2 or 3-day tours, and the other way around I know of absolutely no organised coach trips from Amsterdam to Belgium.

Therefore if you don%26#39;t want to do it by train (70-year olds in Europe regularly take trains!), I would suggest you organise this privately e.g. through http://www.comforttours.nl/privateguide/

If you do decide to do it by train, you can do a circular tour, first to Brugge via Antwerp, then Ghent if you must (I would say if you can only manage 2 places, for a first visit it should be Brugge and Brussels), then Brussels, then back to Amsterdam. You can get a bus to Markt from the station in Brugge (to avoid the 15-minute or so walk to the centre), in Ghent you would get off at Gent-St. Pieters and take the no. 1 tram into the centre, and in Brussels the Grand%26#39; Place is no more than 5 minutes walk downhill from Gare centrale (which you can get off/on at if you take an InterCity train from/to Amsterdam rather than Thalys, it%26#39;s a much better choice anyway as you then don%26#39;t have to reserve in advance, and it%26#39;s no slower than Thalys on that route).
