Brussels transport advice

Hello! Please help! I%26#39;ll be arriving in Brussels (Luchthaven Brussel National) rather late in the evening (8 pm) and I want to get as soon as possible to IACF, rue de Bourgogne 48 (Forest). I’ve been advised to take a train to Gare du Midi and, from there, any means of transport to Forest area. The issue is I don%26#39;t know what would be safer and painless- bus, tram,.. – considering I%26#39;ll be carrying a 20kilo suitcase. Many thanks!

It%26#39;s very close to Forest National (concert venue) but if you go to Gare du Midi this means you would have to take the 82 tram (direction Drogenbos, which would run from your left to your right as you come out of the station) from %26quot;rue couverte%26quot;, under the railway bridge, to the Zaman stop: and then walk down rue d%26#39;Uccle which brings you to rue de Bourgogne. Total cost €2.90 for the train then €1.70 for the tram if you buy the ticket from a machine before geting on the tram (otherwise €2).

However, unless arriving at a weekend, when the airport bus stops at Schuman, I would advise you to take the airport bus (no. 12) to Luxembourg and there change to the 54 bus to the Forest National stop. This will cost you €4 (you can only buy the ticket from the driver as there isn%26#39;t a machine at the airport) but covers you on both buses, you just put your ticket in the orange machine in both of them. At Luxembourg, which is the terminus for the airport bus, walk around the corner to the stop in front of all the cafés for the 54.

This has the advantage of avoiding Gare du Midi, which is reputed to be unsafe, and of allowing you to transport your suitcase on buses, which is easier than trams.

If you take a taxi all the way from the airport it would cost about €40. An alternative would be to get off the airport train at Gare centrale and take a taxi from there (not from Midi as a) you might feel a bit nervous there at night and b) it%26#39;s a bit close to your destination and most Brussels taxi drivers get very upset when you only want to go a short distance!), I think this should cost about €10.
