Trains : Brussels to Amsterdam

How long does the train take to get between Brussels and Amsterdam and how many trains are there a day?

Many thanks

The direct trains take about 2 hours 45 min and I believe one leaves every hour from Brussels Central station

Hi Wanderer, there are 25 pages of former posts relating to taking the train from Brussels to Amsterdam if you care to type %26quot;train to Amsterdam%26quot; in the search box.

Anyhow also try the new website of NS www.nlhispeed.nl/en where you can get all the info you need. My advice would always be at the moment to take the normal Dutch international train rather than the Thalys as you can just turn up and buy a ticket no reservation needed. Trains leave every hour.

Thanks :-)

I am trying to purchase tickets roundtrip from the Belgium railways site - Amsterdam to Bruxelles to Bruges- and it looks like the only option I have is to pick them up at the station, as they cannot be printed out at home and they only mail them within Belgium and Luxembourg.

Can I pick up the tickets at Amsterdam Centraal if I purchased them from the Belgium Railways website?

Thanks for any input!

There is no need to pre book or purchase these tickets, you can just pick them up at the station when you get there unless you are trying to book the Thalys train which is not necessary as its not much quicker than the normal international train.

The previous poster is right, it is not NECESSARY to buy at home for the %26quot;normal%26quot; IC train.

I always do however to avoid waiting at the stations. Soemtimes it can be quite long.

There is normally no problem when buying from the Belgian railway site to print at home, either for the Benelux IC train or for domestic travel. I just tried to simulate and it gives me the option %26quot;print at home%26quot; for both (Amsterdam-Brussels and domestic journey).....Don%26#39;t know where the problem is.
