Brussels to Bruges - Help with trains.

I will be taking the Eurostar from London St Pancras to Bruxelles Midi and will arrive at 1.03pm and need to then take a train to Bruges from Brussels.

I found a train that leaves Bruxelles Midi to Bruges [B] at 2.05pm. But is Bruges [B} the correct train station that I need to arrive at? Where is it? My hotel is in Langestraat. Is that far from the station?

Would I need to take another train or is it walkable?

Thanks!

There is only one railway station in Bruges. I suspect you are looking at the Belgian rail site, which is where you have got the Bruges (B) bit from. The B refers to train station, all the other listings are bus stops (I believe).

Langestraat is a very long street, so it really depends which hotel you are referring to as to whether it is walkable with luggage or not. Where exactly are you staying?

Actually there are 2 railway stations in Brugge (that%26#39;s why the B-Rail site offers a choice!) but the only one you can arrive at from Bruxelles-Midi is the one you want, just called Brugge. The other one, confusingly, is called Brugge-Sint-Pieters (not to be confused with Gent-Sint-Pieters which is the MAIN station for Ghent)

As general background, the B-Rail site covers not only trains but also buses etc. When you see (B) after the name it means railway station (i.e. Belgian Railways). When you see (DL) after a name it means there is a bus or (in Ghent, but not in Brugge) tram stop of that name served by De Lijn, the Flemish bus/tram company.

There is only one train station in Bruges. I%26#39;ve been there several times.

thanks for all the input so far.

I%26#39;m staying at Hotel Ter Reien. I don%26#39;t have the exact address but know its in Langestraat.

So is it ok to just buy the Brussels to Bruges ticket once I get to Bruxelles Midi or should I get it online from the Belgian railway website? Similarly, for the Eurostar, is it better to get it online from their website?

Your hotel is located in the center of Bruges...it is approx 8 Euro cabfare from the train station...it is walkable but that is your decision...there is also a bus from the train staion for approx 1.5 Euro...you can purchase your ticket upon your arrival at Brussels station...advance ticket purchase may be less expensive....it is approx 45 minutes from Brussels to Bruges via train...to my recollection there is only one station for Bruges...

If you are traveling with Eurostar to Brussels the ticket usually includes train travel to anywhere in belguim.

We have been several times previously and have never had to buy additional tickets.

Definitely buy your Eurostar ticket in advance, it will be more expensive by far on the day, and if you have an option make sure you select ABS (Any Belgian Station) rather than just Brussels as that gives you the option to travel on in Belgium within a particular time period, not sure how long, but I think it is 24 hours.
