Paris to Brussels-HELP

I arrive in Paris CDG airport early in the morning and need to travel to Brussels same afternoon.What is more convenient,to take a train from the airport to Brussels or to take the RER in Paris to Paris Nord and then the Thalys to Brussels?

I%26#39;ve been told the lines at the Nord station are very long. This is my first trip Paris - Bussels. Please help

Hi,

I think that the easiest way will be to take a direct train from CDG to Brussels (Midi).

The best way to check all your options from CDG to Brussels (including indirect trains and trains from Paris Nord) is the German railway site.

Go to www.bahn.de/international/view/en/index.shtml and choose %26quot;Personal Timetable%26quot; (the link is just left to the flag).

Choose trains from Aeroport Paris-Charles de Gaulle TGV to Bruxelles-Midi and adjust the time of departure if necessary. After you press %26quot;Create%26quot; you%26#39;ll get a file with the schedule.

Notice that reservation is mandatory for the TGV. If you want to make a reservation in advance you can use the SNCF site as following:

Go to www.voyages-sncf.com/leisure/fr/launch/home/

Choose Train-%26gt; Reservez un billet de train

If you want to switch from French to English go to the address bar, change FR into UK and press Enter.

Choose trains from AEROPORT CDG 2 TGV to BRUXELLES and on the next screen you can choose the train that you want (notice that there are indirect trains there as well).

After you choose the trains choose

%26quot;Collect your ticket from a station or SNCF shop, with the reference number of your file and the bank card used for the payment%26quot;

(I believe that you don%26#39;t have a credit card with electronic chip, hence, you can%26#39;t choose to collect your ticket from an automatic ticket machine).

Another and much easier option is to use http://www.raileurope.com site which can send you the tickets to your home address. Choose trains from %26quot;Paris Cdg Airport%26quot; to Brussels. You can visit both sites (raileurope and SNCF) and compare prices

i would go to Gare du nord and then to BXL the Thalys is a good and quick service.

you can use the thalys site to book or the sncb site.

the lines can be long at gare du nord but they move pretty fast

hi brusselsboy,

Using the direct TGV from CDG takes about 1:15-1:30 while using the RER+Thalys takes more than 2 hours and involves buying a ticket to the RER in CDG, and having to transfer between Gare du Nord RER and Thalys and then buying another ticket.

|||

yes but the rer cost is about 3 euros and the thalys is more relaible and they have more frequent services.

neither is bad, but my preference having done both is for the gare du nord and thalys.

Chacun a son gout

I also thought to take the RER and the Thalys because I found a really cheap Thalys ticket (about 27 euros) from Gare du Nord, while the direct train from CDG is quite expensive
