Going back to Bruges for a day trip in October for the first time in six years! Very overdue. Won%26#39;t have much time, so can anyone recommend somewhere nice for lunch that is open on a sunday and has reasonably quick service?

Just about every restaurant is open in Bruges on a Sunday so take your pick. If you don%26#39;t have much time, I would say avoid Den Dyver - while on every other account it is one of the best restaurants going, it is terribly slow. My personal recommendations are Cambrinus on Philippestockstraat and Erasmus on Wollestraat.

I ate in Gruuthuse Hof on Mariastraat (just off Simonstevensplien) last Sunday evening. It%26#39;s a really nice traditional restaurant, nice old building, food was excellent and reasonably priced too. There%26#39;s a few small pics (but no menu unfortunately) at http://www.gruuthusehof.be

Hi All,
I%26#39;m taking my Mum and Dad to Bruges for their 40th Wedding anniversary at the end of September and their actual anniversary falls on the Sunday.
My first choice for their special dinner had been Rock Fort but I note from some posts that its not open :-(((...so disappointing!! (is it open on Monday lunch, does any one know??)
So I was wondering where else would be good for a great celebration meal that%26#39;s not too OTT - Dad especially would hate somewhere where you had to sit on ceremony.
Price isn%26#39;t an issue as its such a special meal - any of your ideas would be greatly appreciated!!
Thanks All!

Nixy, Not been personally but one place that always gets a thumbs up on here is Den Djiver. www.djiver.be this place is on my list next time I am over in Bruges. Not to pricey but not cheap either. They specialise in Beer based cuisine and for extra you can have a selected beer (or wine) with each course. Ideal for a special occasion I would think.
Also take a look at the Brugge Dining thread on this forum. A Concierge from one of the hotels has posted the restaurants they suggest to clients.
Of the restaurants i%26#39;ve been to in Bruges my personal favourite is Au Petit Grand - It%26#39;s classy but reasonably priced, the food is excellent and there%26#39;s a great relaxed atmosphere. I eat here at least once every time I visit Bruges. Den Djiver is definitely more upmarket than this.. but then you pay for it so I guess it depends on what your looking for.

Thank you! Looks like Den Djiver could be the winner!
Does any body know if Rock Fort is open on Monday lunch times?
Thanks All - so excited!!
