Belgium Grand Prix - Where to stay

Hello,

Could any local or past visitor to the Belgium grand prix recommend the best way to enjoy the experience.

We will be staying 3 nights in the area and are undecided on whether to camp - are there any good smaller campsites available that are bookable?

If we stay in a hotel should we go for the main cities like Liege or Aachen or do any of the smaller towns like Malmedy or Stavelot come alive during this weekend? An attractive small town with lively bars would be appealing to us.

Thanks in advance for any tips/ recommendations,

We are going this year 2008 - what happened with your trip?

Have not picked a travel company - did you use one?

Been looking any feedback on the web any sites you found?

Hi we arranged the trip ourselves driving from the UK, using easygpt.com for tickets. All the local hotels were booked early but we just got in the Bungalow Park Domaine De Chodes near Malmedy through booking.com. Basic accommodation but a handy late bar/ restaurant. Malmedy quite pretty with a few reasonable bars %26amp; restaurants. Whilst these got full there was a lack of party atmosphere in town.

You need a car, but getting to the circuit was quite easy. Francorchamps just off the motorway and as you enter the town all the locals turn there gardens in to offical car parks and basic campsites. Suggest you park in one of the first ones and walk the last mile to the circuit.

There is an official camping option bookable at spafrancorchamps.be but this only went live around may/ june last year - well after we had booked the bungalow park.

We stopped off in Antwerp after the race - very attractive Old town and some good bars/ restaurants.

Enjoy the race, Eau Rouge is awesome in real life - we%26#39;re off to Monza 2008!

Hello,

I%26#39;m planning to go to the 2008 Belgian GP this September, I think the best place to stay is Aachen, the only doubt I have is if I absolutely need a car or if there is some kind of transportation from Aachen to Francorchamps, thank you.

We ended up booking with a travel company out of Canada staying in Hasselt. Our first stop is Amsterdam then off to the Nurburgring, Germany Ben Lovejoys site convinced us to ride in a BMW M5 taxi should be great fun. Then a few days mucking around the Rhine river area castles, churches car museums. Any do not miss sites?

Thanx for the earlier input!
