Buses from Brussels to Bruges?

I am in the process of planning a trip from London to Bruges with a friend. We are thinking of taking a bus from London to Brussels. Are there any buses from Brussels to Bruges or would we be better served if we took a train with Eurostar?

I would think your most convenient/quickest way to get between Brussels and Bruges is by train. You can get a train from Garre Centraal (or any Brussels station as there are 3 on the same line) to Bruges which takes about an hour. http://www.b-rail.be/main/E/

I always drive (using Eurotunnel) to Bruges from the UK as I find it the most convenient for me but if that%26#39;s not an option and your going from London I would think the Eurostar would be better than a bus (although I am not a big fan of buses!).

Thanks so much for your quick response. I%26#39;ll check out the trains. Would you be able to recommend a hotel? Thanks.

Hi,

No problem with the response.

I can certainly recommend a hotel. Nowadays I have no intention of staying anywhere in Bruges other than The Aragon http://www.aragon.be for me its an excellent hotel for the money and location wise it%26#39;s perfect. There are plenty of reviews on here about the place (including one by me) so take a look.

If your looking for somewhere a little cheaper than the Aragon there%26#39;s an Ibis which is also in the centre of Bruges. I%26#39;ve stayed there once and it was just fine. Typical Ibis standard.

As a tip for a good rate for a Bruges hotel have a look here http://www.booking.com this site always seems to be competitive to me. An extra tip, first time I booked with the Aragon I got a price off Booking.com and then emailed the hotel directly (info@aragon.be) they matched the price of booking.com but gave me a room upgrade! I may have been lucky but might be worth a go?

Hope you enjoy your trip to Bruges. Anything I can help with please just ask and I will if I can or PM me.

Cheers

Thanks so much. My friend and I (she%26#39;s from Las Vegas and I%26#39;m from Maine) were looking at the Aragon earlier and it seemed reasonable. Since we will be there 5 night, they advertised that they would give the 4th night free. I%26#39;ll also look at the Ibis you suggested.

If you%26#39;re into medieval history, we%26#39;re having a conference on Saturday, September 27 at the Market Bosworth High School and Community College, Station Rd., Market Bosworth, Leics. Registration begins at 9:15.

That is why my friend and I are coming over to England - to conduct the conference. It%26#39;s sponsored by the Richard III Foundation, Inc. (www.richard111.com). My friend is the president of the organization. The theme of the conference is %26quot;The Wars of the Roses: Military Thought and Practice%26quot;. Hope you and any of you who are reading this will be able to come.

You can take a bus (Eurolines/National Express) from London to Brussels if you want to save money but don%26#39;t mind it taking all day. Timewise of course you would be better off on Eurostar - which only serves London, Paris and Brussels. See www.eurostar.com for prices on day you want to travel, you have to book at least a couple of weeks ahead for best prices - and you have to book Eurostar at least a few hours in advance as it%26#39;s reservation only.

There are no buses from Brussels to Bruges, only trains, run by Belgian Railways. InterCity trains to coastal destinations like Oostende, Knokke and Blankenberge take 1 hour, stopping only at Ghent and Bruges. You can catch them at Nord, Central or Midi and there are at least 2 an hour; no need to buy in advance, you can%26#39;t book seats anyway.

Thanks so much. Since my friend and I have never been to Belgium at all, it%26#39;s better to get information first before booking a trip. I really appreciate the information that you have given me.
