Onward travel from Brussels to Bruges.

Hello everyone on the Bruges forum. Just need some advice.I am in the process of booking a short break in Bruges in December for a wedding anniversary.

The plan was to travel to Brussels via Eurostar from St Pancras. Then stay over in Brussels on a Sunday night and travel to Bruges the following morning.

I know there is free onward travel to any Belgian station if booked at the time, but i was assuming that we could travel onward to Bruges and still be within the 24 hour period. If not we will stay over in Brussels on the journey back from Bruges. Any advice much appreciated.

Firstly it seems that you don%26#39;t even have to book ABS with Eurostar any more (as you still do with Thalys), it is now automatically included.

And you are right that it allows a stopover of up to 24 hours in Brussels, so what you are planning to do sounds fine to me.

Incidentally, if it hadn%26#39;t been OK on the way there, it wouldn%26#39;t have been on the way back either! My understanding, based on the way %26quot;VIA%26quot; tickets work in Belgium (stopover of up to 24 hours at the transit point) is that you can do it both ways. Your return ticket is a separate ticket, so it may get stamped in the train from Brugge to Brussels, which will tell Eurostar when you started your return journey; you have to start the second leg within 24 hours of ending the first.

Of course, this is only my opinon: only Eurostar itself can answer questions about their current practice with regard to ticketing conditions in a way you can rely on.

gaminari is 100% correct. you can use the eurostar ticket for your journey to bruges and back provided the %26quot;extension%26quot; is within 24 hours of arrival and departure
