Train from brussels to amsterdam how much

I am looking to get a train from brussels to amsterdam on the 22nd August 08. Can some one tell me how much a cheap one day return will cost me. Will it be cheaper to book it now or when i get there.

I read somewhere that you get free travel in brussels if you have a eurostar ticket. Is this true ?

Thanks

1) You can get a Superdagretour fare (a Benelux special: there are no day return fares for travel within Belgium) on InterCity trains leaving Bruxelles-central at 8:19 and Amsterdam-centraal at 17:56 for €43.80, and it would make no difference whether you buy now or when you get here (no seat reservation required or even possible). On the other hand if you wanted to go by Thalys, right now you could get the Mezzo fare (€43 one way) for your day of travel, but on the date itself you might only be able to get the full Librys fare (€55.50 one way) and you would in any case have to book in advance as Thalys is reservation only.

2) NO this is not true. What is true is that your Eurostar ticket covers you from your station of arrival (Gare du Midi) to any other Belgian station, whether this is another station in Brussels or, for instance, Brugge. So you could travel from Midi to Gare centrale on the same ticket on your date of arrival, and back on the date of departure, but in between those dates you would have to pay to travel on buses, trams and metros (and indeed trains) in Brussels.

I spoke to eurostar and they said you can travel upto 24 hours from when you get there and when you depart. Does that me i could go to bruge and then get back to brussels the same day

thanks

It means what they say! If you want to go to Brugge on your London-Brussels (ABS = Any Belgian Station) Eurostar ticket, this has to be within 24 hours of your arrival at Bruxelles-Midi. Effectively your ticket is to Brugge - or whichever other Belgian station you choose - VIA Brussels.

It%26#39;s a ticket to Brugge via Brussels so you must continue your journey there within 24 hours of arriving in Brussels, which naturally includes taking the next available train from Gare du Midi, since within 30 minutes is within 24 hours. You can spend as long as you like in Brugge (within the dates of your ticket!) before returning to Brussels for the trip back to London. The 24 hours applies to the time you spend in BRUSSELS (transit point), not Brugge.

In any case, you can ask these questions of the Eurostar ticket inspector when you are on the train, or even call by their information office beforehand. What I would want to check in your position is not whether you can arrive in Brussels, go to Brugge and come back to Brussels on the same day (which seems clear to me) but whether you have to leave Brussels within 24 hours of arriving back here, since you would have started your RETURN journey from Brugge to London! As I understand it, each time you transit Brussels when travelling to and from Brugge, you can stay here for up to 24 hrs.

If you DON%26#39;T want to start your return journey back to London (when the return portion of your Eurostar ticket risks being date-stamped in the train from Brugge to Brussels), you would have to buy a one-way ticket from Brugge to Brussels, which costs €12.30. However, I am not an employee of Eurostar, so I strongly suggest you ask THEM for advice!
