Car hire at age 21

Hi!

Many thanks for all this useful advice, this may be a difficult question to answer but hopefully someone will know the answer...

I am flying with my girlfriend getting Ryanair into Charleroi South Airport and was hoping to rent a car for the week. I am only 21 however and it seems that, while legal to rent a car to a 21 year old, all companies I have found require a minimum age of 23 or 25.

My questions are

1. Does anyone know of any car hire companies which will expressly rent to a 21 year old?

2. Does anyone know if the rules on this are relaxed or taken lightly?

3. Will it be easy to arrive over there with no car hired and book en spec?

Any useful information is greatly apreciated...

2. They are not taken lightly at all: you have to produce official ID (national identity card or passport) which among other things, proves your age. In addition, if you were to provide false statements, documents etc. you would be violating your insurance.

3. If you are eligible to rent I am sure they will always find you a car but it might not be the type (i.e. price) you want.
