New Year in Brussels

Could anyone help?

I am going to Brussels for the New Year (2008) and wanted some advice on what to do %26amp; where to visit. I will be there 30th December to 1st jan and wondered if there would be any Christmas Market(s) on? Also any recommendations on a nice, traditional type restaurant for NYE? Also what sort of festivities are there etc? Thanks.

The Winter Market is on until 31/12, open air skating rink continues for a week or so. There are fireworks on NYE from the Albertine gardens, best viewed from the Mont des Arts/Place Royale. People also gather in the Grand%26#39; Place.

A safe traditional restaurant would be Aux Armes de Bruxelles in rue des Bouchers or La Taverne du Passage in the Galeries St. Hubert, or L%26#39;Ogenblik in Galerie des Princes. If you google for these you may find their NYE menus in a couple of months%26#39; time. Restaurants often serve only a fixed menu (or choice of menus) on NYE.

Thank you! that is great information. I had read somewhere that the Market was only on until the 28th December. Do you know if shops etc are open on New Years Day? I was a bit unsure about what to do on that day. Thanks.
