spending Christmas in Brussels 25th and 26th help needed!

Hi

I just book a hotel and ticket to spend Christmas in Brussels as it is my fav city.

I just realised all the shop and restanrant is closed isn%26#39;t it?

Could you please advise how I can spend most of this lovely city during 25th and 26th?

Thursday 25th is a public holiday so shops and most restaurants will be closed, however your hotel will no doubt be able to feed you, and I don%26#39;t think the cafés around the Grand%26#39; Place (and the Métropole in Pl. de Brouckère) ever close. Also, the Winter Market is on till the end of December so you can always get something to eat and drink (mostly mulled wine) at the stalls there.

Shops will be open on the 24th but may close early so people can get home for dinner; closed on the 25th; and open again on Saturday 26th. On the other hand, unlike in London, public transport will be running on Christmas Day (Sunday service), and on all other days as normal.

The difficult time for restaurants is Christmas Eve - Réveillon de Noël - which is when the locals eat their traditional Christmas dinner: most restaurants will only be serving a multi-course fixed-price (expensive) meal that night, for which you would have to book in advance.

Thank you for your information Gaminari!

I was starting to worry about my trip but I think I will be able to spend beautiful time there.

Is ice skating on on 25th by any chance? if you know.

Thank you anyway for the info!! great help!

Yes, daily from 11.00 to 22.00 but on 24/12 closing at 20.00 and on 25/12 opening at 14.00.

Checking their website - for last year, this year%26#39;s isn%26#39;t up yet - I note they also mention the Brasserie Plaisirs Divers (a pun on Plaisirs d%26#39;hiver) which is set up in the middle of the former fish market, next to the skating rink, and should be open at least the same hours: it says daily from 9.00 till 22.00 but I don%26#39;t know whether to believe that.

Thanks for all that I will check the website.

Many thanks!
