I will be travelling to amsterdam early next year for a few days and would also like to visit brussels for a day or two and I have found great flight deals flying into amsterdam and out of brussels.
Before i book i want to find out would getting a one way train between these two cities be hassle free? stations easy to find? airport easy to get to when flying home from brussels etc, etc ?
I really dont want a stressful trip !

There are direct train connections between Amsterdam (Centraal or Schiphol airport) and Brussels Centraal every hour by intercity train (no changes). You can buy one-way tickets in the station.
You can get from Brussel Centraal to Brussels National Airport by train in about 20 minutes. There are at least 6 trains per hour.
Check out timetables on the website http://plannerint.b-rail.be/

I am curious who you are flying to Belfast from Brussels international (BRU) with. I am not aware of any direct flights on this route so you will have to hub. I%26#39;m Guessing you are lookng at FlyBE.
The train takes 2hrs 50 mins to get from Amsterdam Central to Brussels although they might have the new hi speed liink up and running by then so a little shorter journey to Brussels.

Ronaldo, you are so optimistic! The hi speed link should have been up and running for more than one year. They keep postponing it and don%26#39;t even mention a deadline anymore ...

According to the NSHispeed website they started test runs on the Amsterdam Rotterdam link this month but I have heard nothing about it. According t the railteam website service is supposed to start in October but again its all gone quiet again. I won%26#39;t hold my breath though.

have just went on and checked fly be, found out they do have a direct flight from belfast city airport to brussels, but its really exspensive. the taxes and charges added on after the fare are £72. I wont be flying with fly be!!

Just in case you are flying Ryanair form Charleroi, please be aware that this airport is nowhere near Brussels. It%26#39;s an hour by coach from Brussels Midi station.
Also that Flybe flight is not direct to Belfast, you have to hub through Southampton I think.
Good luck on your trip.

hey,
i did that trip a couple of weeks ago, and it was like this:
1. Cab to Amsterdam Centraal, from Museumplein area: 20 €. We took it because we had 2 big suitcases, and tram wouldn%26#39;t have been a comfortable option.
2. Train to Brussels Centraal: Two tickets for 69€, bought that same day. Trains leave every hour. The trip was 2:50 min. We managed to put the luggage in the seat next to us, since we saw the train wasn%26#39;t full. Nobody asked us to move them (couldn%26#39;t possible put them under or above the seats as they were big and heave to lift; there wasn%26#39;t an alternative place either).
3. Brussels Cetraal to Airport: Bought the ticket the same day; easy 20-30 minute ride. Had no problems with luggage either as the train was quite empty (early flight on a saturday).
Brussels Airport was quite pleasant; we didn%26#39;t even had to queue to check in for a Vueling flight.
