We will be visiting Bruges for 2 days in mid-October. Are the shops and museums open on a Sunday? Also, do boat trips run down the canal at this time of year? many thanks!

Hi,
Most tourist shops (i.e. Chocolate shops etc) will be open on a Sunday. Most tend to open later than the UK. At around 10.30 or 11 or in some cases later. You might find some of the main clothes shops etc do not open but there%26#39;ll be plenty of shops that will.
Over the years i%26#39;ve been to Bruges in every season and never seen the boat trips not running!

Im also going to Bruges for 2 days mid-October and was wondering if things are open on Sundays. I will be there on a Monday too and am slightly concerned as someone has said that everything is shut on a Monday. Is this true?

In a word, No.
In many cases restaurants have one day/night a week where they close. In some cases this could be a Sunday or a Monday or Maybe a Wednesday. However for every 1 restaurant that is closed there will be 15+ that are open.
On a Monday all the shops will be open.

Don%26#39;t worry, you won%26#39;t be short of things to do or places to eat and drink in Bruges. I%26#39;ve been going at least a couple of times a year for the last 5 years and i%26#39;ve never not found something to do!!

I%26#39;ve just come back from Bruges and was concerned that I had heard conflicting reports that things were shut on sunday/mondays.
There wasn%26#39;t a problem as long as you do a little planning and check in guide books what%26#39;s open and when. Like other posts have said-some are and some aren%26#39;t.
On Sunday we went up the Belfort and went to the Volkskunde museum. I also noticed that the Diamond museum was open too when we walked past. There were plenty of restaurants open-we went to Tanuki and Tom%26#39;s Diner. We found no problems going for a drink. One bar shut at 11.00 but we followed the sounds of live music nearby and found a bar open to about 1.
It%26#39;s usually Mondays that museums aren%26#39;t open, having said that- we went to the Brewery and I also noticed that the diamond museum was open this day too.

On Monday it is mainly the %26quot;State Owned%26quot; (not entirely sure of how they are funded, but I am sure you will get my meaning) museums, that are closed, private ones, such as the Chocolate, Chip %26amp; Diamond museums tend to be open.
