Advice for december trip

Can anybody tell me what Brussels is like in december.

I am planning a weekend for the xmas markets, is it worth coming to and is there much happening then.

cold and wet but the christmas market is fun and it doesnt rain in the bars so it isn%26#39;t all bad

What are the prices like for food and drink.

Are there plenty of places to choose from.

And is Charleroi airport far

1) Weather-wise, it%26#39;s pretty much like Cheshire.

2) NO, if you come just for the Winter Market, expecting to see Christmassy things, you will be disappointed (a lot depends on the guest country/region: when it was Lapland, it was quite Christmassy; when it was French Polynesia, it wasn%26#39;t!). If you like mulled wine, every other stall seems to be selling it. Watch this website: http://www.plaisirsdhiver.be/

3) The winter sound and light show in the Grand%26#39; Place is usually very good, and you might like the open-air skating rink at Ste. Catherine.

4) The prices for food and drink are pretty variable, just like anywhere else (how would you answer this question for where YOU live?!). All depends on what you want to eat and drink and where, and whether you find it cheap or expensive will also depend on what you are comparing it with and what the exchange rate happens to be at the time between the euro and your currency.

5) Yes there are plenty of places to choose from.

6) Charleroi airport is about 45 minutes from Brussels%26#39; Gare du Midi by coach.

The Brussels Xmas market is nice, but not as nice as the markets in neighbouring Germany. If you%26#39;re going to be there for a long weekend, Cologne would make a nice (and very very Christmassy) day trip.

Interesting reading. I%26#39;m off there too in December and advised Brussels is better than Liege. I was considering a 3hr trip to Aaachen instead, and thought it was 4 to Cologne which made it a LONG day out.
