1 day visit

We will be in Brussels for only 1 day at end of our vacation this October.Would you suggest we use our Benelux pass and travel to Ghent for a big part of our last day and return to Brussels for dinner? We already have a hotelroom in Brussels as we will be sadly leaving the next day to fly home to the United States. We will be staying the night prior in Brugges so not sure what we should do our last full day in Belgium?

If you will be in Brussels for only 1 day I cannot understand why you would want to spend it in Ghent. If you go to the Brussels forum and click on %26quot;Things to do%26quot; in the lists on the left, I would have thought you could find more than enough in this city to keep you occupied and interested: even without visiting any of the world class museums and art galleries, the Grand%26#39; Place and Galeries St. Hubert should be worth your time.

If on the other hand you want to spend the day in Ghent, I presume you would not be considering taking the train 1 hour to Brussels from Brugge, checking in, and then taking the train 30 minutes back to Ghent, then returning to Brussels. Ghent is on the way from Brugge to Brussels so it would make more sense to get off at Ghent St. Pieters, leaving your luggage there, visit the city (which means taking a tram into the centre), collect your luggage and continue your journey. If you have a Benelux pass you won%26#39;t need to buy a %26quot;VIA%26quot; ticket allowing you to stop off on the way, as your pass allows you to stop off as often as you like (although, if you take one of the fastest trains, Ghent is the only stop between Brugge and Brussels anyway!).
