Restaurant Recommendation

Hi, we are visiting Brussels the weekend of 8th August. I need a restaurant recommendation for Saturday night. Somewhere we can be a bit dressed up. Cost not a problem – just needs to be central (staying at Le Meridien) and I would prefer it to have a bar (or a nice bar close by) so we can have drinks before/after the meal. I don’t mind if it’s Michelin starred - I have dined at Comme Chez Soi which was amazing but a bit too food worshipping for me. Perhaps something a bit less formal. Also, I am a vegetarian but my friend is not – so must accommodate us both.

Avoiding the 12 Michelin-starred restaurants in Brussels yet selecting one with a bar (in fact 2, an oyster bar where I presume you can just have a drink and a cigar %26quot;bar%26quot; in the basement), I can only think of Belga Queen, near the opera house: www.belgaqueen.be then click on %26quot;à la carte%26quot; to check out the menu.

There is also a bar in the opera house and in the Dominican Hotel behind it, see http://www.thedominican.be/

Bar + separate restaurant is not all that common in Brussels in fact it is largely hotels that spring to mind. The Amigo (one block from the Grand%26#39; Place) has, as well as a bar, a well-respected Italian restaurant called Bocconi, which might well suit a vegetarian: http://www.hotelamigo.com/dining/.

I was also going to recommend the Museumbrasserie on Place Royale but I see it is closed from 21 July till 11 August.

thank you - the video looks great.

chez leon is good for what it does but it is a chain, more the mcdonalds version of Belgian food, and not recommended for a relaxing/romantic/special meal unless you like battery chicken ambiance.

Belgaqueen is very nice but is not what i would call intimate. It can be very noisy in the great barn like centre. The bar and the seafood bar at the front is nice as well and they do have a dress code so smart casual all round.
