numbers

I know this might sound silly if it%26#39;s not true but i%26#39;ve heard that the numbers in belgium are different, i mean 20 in french is vingt but in belgium it could be something else, is that true?

Another question, i%26#39;m aking the train from the airport to bruxelles centrale and then the bus to the university %26quot;campus solbosch) how do i know that i have reached the station i want? is there a sign or does the driver say which stop is next?

Thx

1) The difference arises only with 70 and 90 which are much more logical in Belgian than in %26quot;French French%26quot;, i.e. septante instead of soixante-dix and nonante instead of quatre-vingt-dix. This means that the 71 bus is the septante-et-un and not the soixante-et-onze! However, if you use the French French expressions you will be understood so I wouldn%26#39;t worry.

2) There is no announcement of stops on buses (some have electronic indicators inside but drivers don%26#39;t always turn them on): you can either ask the driver to tell you when you get there (if you are sitting nearby and if he remembers), or follow the route and count the stops. The name of the stop is indicated at each one and often also on the bus shelter but you might not be able to see it from inside the bus.

I imagine you will be taking bus 71 (bendybus) to the stop called ULB or possibly the one before it which is called Jeanne: in which case, here is the route:

Basically, after you see the ponds (étangs d%26#39;Ixelles) the bus will cross a big boulevard and start climbing uphill, this is Avenue Adolphe Buyl (first stop Buyl, pronounced Beul) and when it reaches the top you should quite easily recognise the university on the right. If you want to get off at Jeanne, ring the bell (blue button on door) when the bus sets off after stopping at Buyl, if you want to get off at ULB, ring the bell after Jeanne.
