Are there trains from Brussels to Loire Valley?

I%26#39;m planning a U-drive canal cruise through Belgium (Brugges/West Flanders area)in early September and will have a day or two after the cruise before leaving. I%26#39;ve always wanted to do a hot air balloon or guided tour of the chateaus of the Loire Valley. Does anyone know if there are trains directly from Brussels to this area or to we have to connect through Paris? If so, what%26#39;s the best train station for Loire Valley? Thanks.

There are direct TGV trains from Brussels to Poitiers (final destination Bordeaux) via Lille, CDG Airport, Marne-la-VallĂ©e (=Disneyland Paris), and Massy, bypassing central Paris. BUT, only one a day (and not quite every day), departing Bruxelles-Midi at 07:32 and arriving at Poitiers at 11:17. Cost depends on how far in advance you can book (e.g. 14 days, 7 days) but you can expect to pay about €100 one way, 2nd class.

Otherwise, you can take the Thalys (www.thalys.com) from Bruxelles-Midi to Paris-Nord, then you have to cross the city to either Montparnasse (TGV) or Austerlitz for trains to, for example, Tours.

I would suggest you put your date, or equivalent day of the week, and required time of departure as well as desired destination into http://bahn.hafas.de/bin/query.exe/en.
