days in each city

Hi wise travellors,

planning a trip late Sept/early Oct. to Copenhagen and Brussels. Any recommendations on how many days to spend in each city? I have about 9-10 days to play around with and was thinking of spending more time in Brussels for side trips to Ghent/Bruges and/or Antwerp.

Also has anyone stayed at the Savoy in Copenhagen or the Catalonia Forum in Brussels? if so, how were they?

Any advice?

much thanks!

I%26#39;d spend 3 or 4 days in Copenhagen. One of those days would be a daytrip to Malmo. Tivoli gardens in Copenhagen would be worth most of one afternoon and an evening, if it is open.

The remainder of the time I%26#39;d spend in Belgium. I%26#39;d use three days for Brussels and the remainder for daytrips. The three cities you mentioned are great, as are Dinant and Ostend (if the weather is fine). You can even get to Maastricht in The Netherlands from Brussels, easily.

Thanks TP, is it fairly easy to get around by train between the cities (ie.Brussels to Antwerp) and do the trains run frequently?

thanks again!

Yes, the trains run quite often and are easy to use with a little practice.

I use the German Rail website to check train times and routes. I find it easier to use than other sites and it covers most all of Europe. The website is www.bahn.de and if you click on %26quot;International Guests%26quot; you can select the %26quot;English%26quot; option that makes navigating the site easy. The only difficulty with the website is that it won%26#39;t tell you what the prices of a journey is in a non-German country.

By punching in the start and destination for your journeys, you can get an idea of how frequently the trains run.

i do the same thing i use the www.bahn for information on schediles in other countries because i am having a terrible time with information on both the dutch and belgiun railways. planning two weeks chose belgium and brussels because i got a good rate at the brussels hilton 109 euros per day. netherlands including amsterdam is way too expensive well so is belgium but i was lucky with the brussels hilton. would like to visit amsterdam as a side trip from brussels i know its about 3 hours would like to know what the train fare is it would help me to decide on the benloux rail pass which is 250 dollars for five trips - which i think is expensive.

Thanks! I%26#39;m booked for 4 days in Copenhagen and 6 in Brussels..planning plenty of train trips-don%26#39;t mean to be a bother, but is it best to purchase tickets in advance, or can you get them on the day of travel? any local experts out there with directions on best routes to and from Copenhagen airport to the Savoy hotel and to and from Brussels airport to the Catalonia Forum welcome ;-)....thanks! M.
