Brussels to Paris by train

Hello,

I will be staying in Brussels for a few days in september, and have just decided to go to Paris for a daytrip. I tryied to buy tickets from the Thalys website but with no success..tryed with the lowest fare (Thalys Day, 80€ return for 2 people) and then other tickets with no results..a message is displayed saying that %26quot;the fare wasn%26#39;t available%26quot;, or %26quot;they couldn%26#39;t find two seats%26quot; and other options.. has anyone experienced some kind of problem with that website?

i think i start booking in the thalys website, but then the b-rail booking system appears.. i%26#39;ll keep trying tough, but i was wondering if anyone had a similar experience

thanks!

I have never had a problem with booking through this website.

Thalys.com should work too. No idea where the problem is ....Good luck.

When you use the Thalys website to purchase tickets, even for delivery elsewhere than Belgium, it will say Thalys at the top of the page and SNCB at the bottom: the Thalys reservation service is run by Belgian Railways (Thalys itself is a consortium between Belgian, French, Dutch and German Railways).

I didn%26#39;t want to register with a user name etc. but got quite a long way with a test booking for a daytrip to Paris for 2 people on Saturday 20/9/08 selecting cheapest prices available, which were Optiway (€41) one way plus Smoove (€29) the other, total price €140 for 2 persons.

There are indeed certain fare combinations which are not possible, and it is just possible that if you were selecting certain trains at commuter times, you might not find 2 seats together. I can only suggest you keep trying and experimenting with different times.

PS If you can work out time difference from where you are to phone during Belgian office hours, you can also buy train tickets by telephone: +32-2-528 2828.

thanks for the replies.. apparently i did something wrong, or the fare i wanted was really not available at that time, because i tryed again a few minutes ago and it worked out fine..the lowest fare was no longer available tough..but the one i get now is not bad at all :)

i forgot to ask if there%26#39;s need to pass a control point in Gare du Midi (i mean, passport control considering both of us travelling are non EU residents), should i allow time for this? thanks,
