train or car from Luxembourg to American Ardennes Cemetery

I am slowly putting the plans together for a trip to Luxembourg City/American Ardennes Cemetery south of Liege,BE/Mosel River Valley in Germany - and have changed the itinerary several times. Now my husband thinks that driving might be more stressful than taking trains. My question today is this: Do you know if it is practical to take a train in the morning from Luxembourg City to Liege, BE; then rent a car for a few hours to drive down to the American Ardennes Cemetery in Neupre to tour it for about 3 hours; then drive back to the station in Liege and take a train around 7 pm back to Luxembourg? I then thought we might get the next train to Trier, Germany, spend the night in and tour Trier, and begin our trip up the Mosel River. We are in our 60s, and want to make our travel relaxing and not too stressful. I believe my husband is worried about driving through Luxembourg into BE and finding the cemetery. Friends have talked about how FAST the cars drive in Europe. Can you offer your advice or reassurance about driving renting a car and driving from Luxembourg to this cemetery in Neupre, BE, or can you tell me if you think it is practical to take a train from Lux to Liege, rent a car there, and return by train to Lux the same day? Thank you so much for any advice you can give. MBLC

Assuming that it%26#39;s a weekday, there%26#39;s a direct train from Luxembourg-Gare to Liège-Guillemins at 07:15 which arrives there at 09:42, i.e. taking 2h27; next direct one exactly 2 hours later although there are others in between which would require changing in either Jemelle or Namur.

You can then return from Liège to Luxembourg dep. 15:18, arr. 17:45 and leave for Trier Hbf dep. 18:15, arr. 19:04, i.e. 3h46.

Can%26#39;t advise on carhire except to say that Europcar has an agency 3 mins walk from the station, it%26#39;s no. 3 on here (click on the green writing at the right to see area map):

For carhire details you can select English at the top of that page, and see what it says if you fill in 10:00 as pick up and 15:00 as drop-off time on the date in question.
