daytrip suggestions

On our next visit to Brussels, we want to take a day trip. We have already been to Antwerp and Bruges so was thinking Leuven or Ghent. Will spend about 5-6 hours there and interested in just strolling around, taking it easy, having lunch, shopping etc that kind of thing. Which one to choose or perhaps you have another suggestion. Preferably within 1 hour by train from Brussels.

Leuven is closer to Brussels (approx. 15 minutes by train) than Ghent (approx. 40 minutes).

They are both beautiful cities, but Leuven is smaller. Ghent has more monuments and sightseeing stuff.

Perhaps you can make your choice by checking out the city websites: www.leuven.be/showpage.asp?iPageID=2721

Enjoy your trip!
