Hi!
We are heading to two back to back conferences with my spouses work in sept. We need to be in Brussels Sep 8-12 and then Vienna by the following monday. I%26#39;ve tried looking up the rail schedules but it looks like a long....trip. 12 hours or so?? But we could fly Brussels airline in only 2 hours....what would you do?
Thanks for everyone%26#39;s help. This is a great forum, I%26#39;ve spent hours reading all the posts of places to go and things to see!

I flew. I would only take a a train if it was faster (it obviously isn%26#39;t), cheaper (it isn%26#39;t) or I had the time to stop off along the way (I didn%26#39;t).
I don%26#39;t know exactly how much it would cost by train, but Frankfurt-Vienna costs €118.20 and Frankfurt-Brussels €96.80 by direct ICE (InterCity Express) so you can probably expect it to be around €200.

I fully agree with you. This forum is wonderful.
As regards plane vs train, it is completely up to you. For leisure, I prefer the train to Vianna (I like night trains, but this is completely personal).
For business, I fly.
Depends on your preferences. I would take the train for leisure, but I prefer trains and i like to pay a bit more for that. Up to you.

And as you say, I learn a lot reading qaminari%26#39;s postings. He is a real specialist. But train or plane travel: you have to decide yourselves.
I prefer the train, even if can%26#39;t stop or sleep or whatever......
