New Years in Brugge

My husband and I are going to spend New Years Eve in either Brugges, Amsterdam or Luxemburg City. Any recommendations for hotel and a place to celebrate?

You might want to give people some criteria for your choice. I find the idea of going to Luxembourg to celebrate anything astonishing, but perhaps there is something specific you had in mind?

In any case, as you are in the Belgium forum presumably what you are looking here for recommendations in Brugge. It has a Christmas market with an open-air skating rink and on NYE there are fireworks (you might have to ask where at the tourist office as this can change). If you want to celebrate in a restaurant you would have to book in advance and bear in mind that they serve only expensive, set, multi-course meals. The best hotels will probably have their own celebrations, e.g. Oud Huis De Peellaert (www.depeellaert.com/), De Orangerie (www.hotelorangerie.com), Pandhotel (www.pandhotel.com), Die Swaene (www.dieswaene-hotel.com), De Castillion: http://www.weekendhotel.nl/hotel/brugge/

And for something that is great fun, and totally bizarre, there is Vlaanderen Zingt which is giant singalong, with song sheets distributed among the crowd. Many of the songs have actions and even if you have no idea of the words (the songs last year were in French, Dutch, German, English, and probably many more) you just join in as best you can.

Last year it was in the Markt, but this year I believe it has been moved to the Zand, due to the numbers who took part. It is certainly different.
