HOtels in Brussels

Hi

I was wondering if you guys could help me. Which hotel could you recommend which is fairly near the Station for Eurostar, and near all restaurants, shops and historical places.

Looking at 4* and 5*, would consider 3* if it is a nice hotel!

one that has come up is the Radisson SAS EU Hotel? what is it like as a hotel, location wise etc? Thanks!

You really do not want to be near the %26quot;station for Eurostar%26quot; which is Gare du Midi: it is a very depressing area, and not really near shops and historical places. Do yourself a favour and take a local train (or you can do it by metro, albeit rather a long way round) to Gare centrale, which is just 5 minutes%26#39; walk from the Grand%26#39; Place and Galeries St. Hubert.

The closest hotel to Gare centrale is the Méridien, just across the road. The Radisson SAS (or one of them, there is another near Gare du Luxembourg) is about 10 minutes%26#39; walk away, you would go out the main exit, turn right, when you see the cathdral take the street directly across the road (rue d%26#39;Assaut) and follow it downhill and to the right.

Otherwise, behind the Méridien you will find an Ibis %26quot;Off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot; and a Novotel, among others. Look in the %26quot;Brussels Hotels%26quot; list on the left, and you can see how these have been rated by TA members.

The closest 5 star hotel to the Midi Station is the BeManos, a modern boutique hotel.

We havent stayed there, but it seems to be a nice hotel, especially for this area.

try the amigo. nowhere in the centre of town is far away form the sites but the maigo is my favourite hotel as well as the SAS

i know all of the hotels well...don%26#39;t stay near Midi as it%26#39;s an unpleasant area with little to do or see nearby

The bemanos is lovely inside ina a very modern contemporary way but the area is verging on the very dangerous at night

the meridien has good facilities and nice public areas but the rooms are well past their seel by date

for a cheapy the novotel off grand place is a safe bet - good newly renovated rooms and public area in a cheap chic style

marriott isn%26#39;t bad - near beurse - if you want an american chain hotel

i like the charm of the leopold near the european commission - go for superierior rooms

radissons have VERY poor service at the weeeknds and are overpriced

We two females will travel to Brussels end of Aug.

debating which hotel to stay, I opt for the Rocco Forte Amigo, but some reviews are kind of negative.

Woud anyone offer advice on R.F. Amigo, Le Meredien or any other options we are aiming for 4* and up. We will be arriving from Paris via train (I think Thalys).

We only have 2 nites in Brussels, 1.5 day, do you think we can take a short trip to Bruges?

many thanks for that, i shall avoid the area around the station then! i am looking also at the Avenue Louise? how is this hotel? is it in a good area? there are just so many to choose from its so hard to pick!

We have just returned from another stay in Brussels. This time we stayed at the Metropole Hotel, which was quite nice; we had one of their top suites though, and i can%26#39;t judge it very objectively, but it was a well organized hotel, and better than expected, although the first suite we were given, wasn%26#39;t the one we reserved, but that was sorted it out quick and without much fuss. Every time we go to Brussels, we have our minds on Amigo, as it%26#39;s supposed to be the best hotel in the city, but every time we change our mind last minute, because we can find other 5 star hotels, with suites priced the same or most of the times lower than a standard room there. If this is your first stay in Brussels, and want a supposedly excellent service stay there, but for that money you can find bigger -if not nicer- rooms elsewhere.

I haven%26#39;t stayed at the Amigo, but have passed it quite a few times. It has the best location in Brussels, just off the Grand Place, and a very efficient service( I would not call it over the top although). As for the decor, is modern classic. What i do not like about Amigo is its prices, which while they are reasonable for a 5star European Hotel, are quite the most expensive in Brussels. For 100euros less than its lowest B%26amp;B classic room rate i had a suite at the Stanhope, a suite at Manos Premier, and for about 30euros less a suite at the Metropole etc. And its rooms are not like Conrad%26#39;s(which they could be a junior suite at the Marriott), but standard rooms. In Metropole i had a nice stay(as in Manos Premier, Stanhope etc.), but as its a big hotel, and housed in different buildings, some of its rooms might not be quite up to 5star standards, but you can do what i did, request another room and staff will be happy to assist you. Again, i stayed in one of their best suites, that is why i may have a positive experience. But if i were you, i would check all 5star hotels in Brussels, before deciding which is the best for me. I was to stay at the Amigo, but a last minute offer for such a room at the Metropole changed my mind.
