There are 2 UGC cinemas in the center of Brussels, one at place de Brouckere(closest 4/5star hotels: Metropole, Plaza, Marriott, Dominican, Radisson SAS Royal etc.) and another one at Boulevard Toison D%26#39;or(closest 4/5star hotels: Sofitel Brussels Le Louise, Hilton Brussels, Conrad, NH du Grand Sablon etc).

ALL Brussels cinemas show films in the original language, with French and Dutch sub-titles, so as long as you select one for which the original language (VO = version originale) is English you will be fine (unless it%26#39;s a cartoon aimed at children, as these are dubbed: VF = version française).

The Métropole Hotel is bang opposite the UGC De Brouckère. The UGC Acropole is not in the centre of town (it%26#39;s near Porte de Namur metro station) but the closest hotel would be the Chambord in rue de Namur or the Brussels Hilton on Bd. de Waterloo.

If you want a big U.S. style multiplex (some of the screening rooms in the UGCs are awfully small) you%26#39;ll need to get the metro out to Kinepolis, which is at Heysel, easy to get to from anywhere in the centre, e.g. de Brouckère (Métropole..), Gare centrale (Méridien etc.).

You do not need to worry about safe areas, the only cinema I know of that is situated near a potentially dodgy area (St. Gilles) is the Movy Club out in Forest and you are hardly likely to go out there.

I don%26#39;t know that we have cool bars/clubs in the Chicago sense, but the area around St. Géry - take the small street that starts by O%26#39;Reilly%26#39;s pub opposite the Bourse (stock exchange) is full of bars and cafés, and if you take the rue du Midi which starts behind the Bourse and walk away from the centre, within a couple of blocks you arrive in St. Jacques which is the gay area, lots of bars and clubs around there.
