I have a spare day in my travel intenary in spet and dont know which place to stop off at! I would only be there from 12pm - 10am next day but not sure which place is best.. I know bruges is more on the quiet side but the only thing that looks interesting in brussels is the atomium and that has very mixed reviews.. help me please im totally lost!

Bruges is a small and picturesque town, but not exactly quiet in the summer months (crowded with tourists).
Brussels%26#39; charm is less obvious, although I prefer it to Bruges: if you walk around the Grote Markt and the neighbouring streets it can be very attractive. Great museums and very good restaurants as well (around the Zavel and Sint-Goriksplein!
Antwerp and Ghent are both attractive alternatives!
