Bruges or Brussels??

Was thinking of having a few days at either Bruges or Brussels at the end November/beginning of December for the Christmas markets. Which do you think is the best place for these.

Thanks

I%26#39;ve never been to Brugge%26#39;s Christmas market but the one in Brussels isn%26#39;t billed as a Christmas but a WINTER market, and if you are expecting what you think of as a Christmassy atmosphere you might be disappointed. Apart from the ones selling mulled wine, most of the stalls are exactly the same as at non-seasonal local fairs, selling e.g. leather bags, wooden boxes, soap, candles. The Brussels market features a guest country or region every year, last year it was La RĂ©union, so not Christmassy at all, the year before Lapland, which was. I don%26#39;t know what it is this year.

Check http://www.plaisirsdhiver.be/en/index.aspx nearer the date - at the moment the information given is still for last year.

Apart from that, Brugge has an ice sculpture festival at the same time, while Brussels has an hourly sound and light show in the Grand%26#39; Place (Electrabel nights); again, this and the general level of decorations in the GP vary from year to year, you can see samples on YouTube.
