I%26#39;m taking a trip for 7-10 days from the end of Dec to the beginning of Jan. We%26#39;re planning on spending a few days in Amsterdam and then going to Belgium for a few days. How many days is needed in Amsterdam to be able to see everything and not be too rushed? What about Brussels? We were thinking of taking day trips from Brussels to Antwerp and Bruges - is a day trip enough for each of these towns? Would we need a full day in each or just a portion of the day? I%26#39;m just trying to figure out how much time we need in each city...any advice would be really appreciated!

I%26#39;d say a day each for Bruges and Antwerp would be about right, and couple of days for Amsterdam and Brussels.
Allow about an hour each way for the journeys by train.
It does of course depend how long you like to spend at each of the attractions...
