Ghent International Film Festival????

Hi- Next week 6 of us leave for Belgium from the US. We are trying to finalize a basic itinerary. From looking at things to do in Ghent - it looks like while we are there an International Film Festival maybe going on? We will be in Belgium from Oct. 3rd - Oct 10th doing different day trips. Do you think the festival which looks like starts on the 7th - would be something to avoid?? Or something to do?? May have lines for other attractions? Any info would be great!! Also does anyone know any tours done in Ghent to see sights - from the sights I found they are all for bigger groups - there are 6 in our group.

1) Thanks for reminding me, there%26#39;s a couple of films I want to see myself. However if you aren%26#39;t going to or passing by the venues concenred, I doubt that you will notice any difference in Ghent from the normal situation. As to whether to go to the festival or not, it depends on whether you like anything on the programme (world cinema), see tickets.filmfestival.be/tickets.cgi…

2) I don%26#39;t see why there would be lines for other attractions, this is not high tourist season so even if a few extra people come to Ghent for the festival it is not going to be anything like the July Gentse Feesten. I doubt that the people who come for the films will be queuing up to see the Mystic Lamb.

3) If what you are looking at is an organised coach tour you aren%26#39;t expected to fill the bus on your own. Although with 6 you might just be able to find a private guide with a minibus, as at the tourist office if this interests you (in the basement of the belfry). But personally, I would just use the boat trip for the guided tour - every day till mid-October, see www.rederijdegentenaer.be/templateEN.htm - and then visit places on your own.
