Brussels airport to Catalonia Forum

Hello good travellors,

looking for info on how to get from Brussels airport to the Catalonia Forum Hotel-using least expensive method of transit.

thanks all--also if anyone has ideas for inexpensive day trips from Brussels to Bruges/Antwerp and/or Ghent.

travelling in early October :-)

It is near the %26quot;Ma Campagne%26quot; area, off Avenue Brugmann: ttp://www.hotels-belgium.com/

brussel-bac/forum.htm (reassemble into one line)

As you can see from that map, Avenue Brugmann is served by the 92 tram, which I would suggest you catch at Louise, and get off at either the Ma Campagne or Darwin stop, see http://www.stib.be/appl/TimeTables/

Site/080630/Fr/T/092/0921/H0921F.htm

The easiest way to do that would be to take the airport train to Gare du Midi, which costs €2.90, then buy a STIB transport ticket from a machine or the metro station ticket office for €1.70 and take the metro (direction Simonis) to Louise, changing there to the 92 tram direction Fort Jaco; you put the ticket in the orange machine again on the tram just to mark the transit: total cost, €4.60

Admittedly this is not the least expensive method as it would be 60c cheaper to take the airport bus for €4 (buying ticket on the bus), which then includes all changes to STIB buses, trams, metro within the next 60 mins; but then you would have to get off the bus at Schuman, take the metro (direction Erasme/Roi Baudouin) to Parc, and the 92 tram from there.

Note: in case you compare this with previous information, STIB prices went up today.

Cheapest way of doing day trips to Brugge/Antwerp and/or Ghent is to do it yourself by train, especially at weekends when a return ticket costs about half of what it does during the week.

thanks!g,

sounds complicated..would you recommend staying closer to city center? or is the Forum still a convenient hotel?

|||

If you don%26#39;t want to be travelling up and down from the centre by tram, look for a hotel near Gare centrale, then you can go there directly from the airport: Ibis %26quot;Off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot;, Novotel etc. are just a few minutes walk from there, look in the %26quot;Brussels Hotels%26quot; list on the left for comments on location.

Then it will only cost you the train fare, no additional bus, tram or metro.

Thanks Gam!

getting close to my departure, as I have decided to stay at the forum, can you advise on the location of the nearest train statio for my daytrip adventures.

Much thanks!

M.
