Is it possible to get a guided bus tour for one day ( or maybe one overnight) to various WWII sites such as Bastogne that leave from Brussels? All I seem to be able to find are multi day tours geared toward veterans or military buffs that seem to go into more depth than would interest us. I inquired around Bastogne itself and was told there are no bus tours , only private tours with individual guides who seem to charge upwards of $200 a day- not really what we hoped to find. The Luxembourg forums are not very active and I am not having much luck there. Maybe I am asking for something that just does not exist. We had such an interesting two days in Normandy- I was hoping we might be able to find something similar.

No, there isn%26#39;t the WWII tourism industry in Belgium that there is in France, not enough people want to visit Bastogne to make it worthwhile. You will need either to find an organised tour leaving from the U.S. or else work out what you want to see and then organise it yourself.
There is more of a WWI industry, with battlefield tours from Ieper (Ypres).

Thank you for your response. I think we will have to content ourselves with the Army Museum, which I understand is very intereting to visit.

Hi Lulutoo, when are you planning to go to Brussels/ Bastogne? Just asking as I am due to be in Brussels at the end of August/ beginning September, so could ask around when I%26#39;m there for you if you like.

Hi Lulutoo - think you will find train travel in Belgium is cheap and efficient. You will almost certainly be able to go by train from Brussels to Bastogne although you may want an overnight stay so as not to make it too long a day. I have travelled in the area near Bastogne and it is beautiful. Hope you have a nice trip

Thanks all- our plan to travel to Brussels is only a maybe - but if it happens willbe in the Spring. We are considering a few different possibilities- and of course looking to see what happens with airfare and the dollar/euro as well. If anyone picks up on any ideas I%26#39;d love it if you would share. We were not so keen on driving , but can%26#39;t seem to find any other workable alternative and were hoping for some guided commentary to help us with our rusty history.

I highly recommend a visit to Bastogne. The museum and the monument there make it memorable. A good guidebook would be helpful such as The 25 Best World War II Sites, European Theater amazon.com/Best-World-Sites-European-Theater…
