New Year 31DEC2008 - Good Restaurant? Festivities?

Hi There,

My boyfriend and I are going to Bruges for New Year and staying at the Portinari Hotel.

We would very much like a good recommendation of a nice Restaurant , walking distance from our hotel. We beleive we may need to pre-book.

We like a nice restaurant with good food but also a nice warm atmosphere, and maybe a good bar/pub to go to for New Year after the meal or even stay at the Restaurant if there is a band or music afterwards at New Year?..

We are opent to suggestions :-)

Please also advise if there are any %26#39;must sees%26#39; in Bruges during our 2 days there, particularly as it is over the New Year. Is the Xmas Market still there?

With many thanks,

Joanne %26amp; Justin :-) x

Hi,

There are lots of lovely places to eat in Bruges, from a 3 star Michelin restaurant to the local cafe/bars. It all depends on the type of thing your looking for and of course price range.

Personally if I were staying for new year i%26#39;d do something a little special. Have a look here http://www.dijver.be although i%26#39;ve never been myself it%26#39;s really highly rated by people on here. I%26#39;ll be visiting next time I am in Bruges that%26#39;s for sure.

Somewhere else I really liked the look of last time I was in Bruges is http://www.saint-amour.be but again i%26#39;ve not been in yet.

My personal favourite restaurant in Bruges is Au Petit Grand http://www.aupetitgrand.be this place has a great atmosphere and the food is excellent and reasonably priced in comparison with other places of a similar quality.

As for must see%26#39;s i%26#39;d definitely recommend a Canal Boat trip if they are running. It%26#39;s one of the best ways of seeing some of the amazing buildings in Bruges.

Hope this helps.

Thank you so much for the information.

Do you know if the Christmas Markets are still there at New Year?

Thanks

|||

They were last year.

And the ice sculpture show is worth a visit, if only to marvel at how they do it - but try to get there early or the queues get very long.

That sounds great.

Where is that held and on what days?

Many thanks for your help its really appreciated

It%26#39;s located outside the front of Bruges train station. Usually open every day betweem 10am and 7pm. Google Bruges Ice Sculpture and you%26#39;ll get stacks of information.
