8 Hours in Brussels

I arrive at the Brussels international airport on May 13 at midnight and must catch a train to Amsterdam at 8AM. Any suggestions on where to sleep for a few hours?

I thought I could take a bus from the airport to somewhere near central station and find a cheap hotel there? Since I would check-in around 1AM and leave early in the morning I probably wouldn%26#39;t want a dorm in a hostel but would probably look for a private room somewhere. Any ideas?

The last airport bus is at 23.20 and doesn%26#39;t go to the centre anyway, you will have to catch the airport train, last ones are at 23:52 (arr. Bruxelles-central 00:08) and 00:26 (arr. 0:18). There%26#39;s only one hotel right at the airport (Sheraton), which is expensive, but close to the Central Station you have the Ibis %26quot;off Grand%26#39; Place%26quot;: http://www.ibishotel.com/

I doubt that there are any private rooms near Gare centrale, but the Bruegel youth hostel (single €32) is open until 1 a.m., it%26#39;s about 10 minutes%26#39; walk from Gare centrale, %26quot;below%26quot; the Sablon and near a big church called Notre Dame de la Chapelle: http://www.vjh.be/

Thanks. I would prefer not to stay in an expensive airport hotel. But if I arrive at midnight then by the time I collect my luggage I will miss the last bus and train right? How much is a taxi to the hostel or a cheap hotel near central station?

You might catch the 0:26 train from below the airport, if not a taxi should cost about €35/€40 to Gare centrale/Grand%26#39; Place area.

You could also take a taxi to one of the hotels near the airport in Diegem, e.g. Ibis Brussels airport, which would cost a lot less as it%26#39;s only 3km away: the Ibis%26#39; airport shuttle starts again at 6 a.m. so you could take that to the airport then train to Brussels Gare du Nord to continue your journey to Amsterdam, e.g. 07:04 reaches Bruxelles-Nord at 07:15, then 07:24 train gets you to Amsterdam at 10.07. As trains from Gare du Nord are hourly, the next possibility would be 08:04 from the airport, which after changing at Bruxelles-Nord would get you to Amsterdam by 11.06

Is there any cheap accommodations near the airport? I arrive late at night on May 13 and will probably miss the last train out of the airport. I couldn%26#39;t find any airport hotel for less than 125 euros - I am by myself. I can pay 40 euros to taxi to the city but all the hostels are already booked so I would have to stay at a 2-star hotel for 60 or 80 euros. There must be a cheaper alternative?
