railway stations in liege

Hi there

will be arriving at Liege-Guillemins station about 17.30 on the 2 october.

I need to: get to the Holiday Inn to check in and from there to the Standard Liege football ground by 1900.

i understand that the station nearest the ground is Sclessin. what is the best one for the hotel and the best way to complete my %26quot;tour%26quot;

The Standard stadium is in an area of Liège called Sclessin but it doesn%26#39;t have a railway station. From Liège-Guillemins, you can take bus 27 (final destination Jemeppe), or bus 2-3.

The Holiday Inn is on Esplanade de l%26#39;Europe across the river from the station (Guillemins), see map on here: www.hotels-belgium.com/luik/holidayinn.htm. It would take about 15 minutes on foot or 5 minutes by bus 17 from in front of the station (possibly also buses 26 and 31).

The TEC routing service indicates the following for the bus from the hotel to the stadium:

17:46 walk to stop Terrasses (5 min.)

17:51 take bus line 2, direction Boncelles/Sart-Tilman. At 18:08, arrival at stop SCLESSIN Standard (17 min.)

18:08 Walk to 2 RUE DE LA CENTRALE, arrive at 18:14 (6 min.)

Next buses: 17:58 arr. 18:15, 18:07 arr. 18:24, 18:14 arr. 18:28...

You would have to ask the hotel to point you in the direction of the Terrasses stop for the no. 2 bus, or alternatively it might be easier to return to the station and take bus 27 from there. Or you could leave your bag at the station, go directly to the stadium, and check in later.

I have a flight from Charleroi Airport at 0700 hrs on 3 October, the morning after the Liege/Everton game. Is there a bus/train from Liege that can get me to Charleroi after the game on 2 October?

If this is not possible, is there a bus/train that can get me to Bruxelles from Liege after the game. I know that Ryanair run a bus from Bruxelles to Charleroi airport at 04.30 hours.

I don%26#39;t know what time matches finish, but the last train from Liège-Guillemins to Charleroi-Sud is at 22:47 arr. 00:10 (1h23 direct).

The last one to Bruxelles-Midi is at 23:08 arr. 00:30, (1h22 direct - final destination of this train is Oostende).

In both cases there is a (reasonably priced) Ibis Hotel next to the station.

From Charleroi-Sud, bus 68 takes 10 minutes to the airport but if it doesn%26#39;t start running before about 6 (which I don%26#39;t know) you would have to take a taxi: Ryanair closes check-in 40 mins before flight.

Shuttle buses run to/from Charleroi Airport and Brussels, Brugge and Lille but not Liège.
