Brugge dining

We will be in Brugge on a Sunday night and all day Monday and I%26#39;m looking for a few dining recommendations. I understand that the area around the Market is touristy and overpriced and want to avoid eating at tourist traps. I%26#39;m looking for a couple of casual places to have dinner, maybe a good place to have mussels and frites or fondue

One of my guidebooks recommends a place called De Koetse for mussels, any thoughts or better suggestions?

And for fondue, the first time we were in Brugge we ate fondue at a place called Fonduehuisje, is it still open? Is there a better option for fondue (specifically cheese and chocolate)?

I think I%26#39;d like to stick with Belgian fare in Brugge since we will just be arriving, I%26#39;ll be ready for a pizza by the time we hit Bastogne :-) Any other suggestions are welcome!

I really liked Tom%26#39;s Diner in Brugge. It%26#39;s absolutely un-tourisy. It%26#39;s a bit away from the main tourist area at Westgistelhof (5 min. walk from Market Square). The building is very old, and so is the interior. But the food is to die for! Check out http://www.tomsdiner.be

Kleine St. Amandsstraat, just off the Market Square, has lots of restaurants. We have eaten a good meal at Bistro De Pompe.

As per the Belgian restaurant website, %26#39;t Fonduehuisje in Brugge is still there. Apparently there%26#39;s another fondue restaurant in Brugge called Le Petit Patron at Niklaas Desparsstraat 4.

Went to Tom%26#39;s Diner last summer for a group dinner -- fantastic!!!

Thanks for the suggestions! I looked up the website for Tom%26#39;s Diner and didn%26#39;t see a menu, what kind of food is it and what do the average entrees run?

International cuisine at Tom%26#39;s. They do have Flemish specialties too and they work with fresh products of the season.

You can read my review on Virtual Tourist. It dates back from 2003, though. Price for a full 3-course meal was about 30 euro at the time.

Try Brasserie Eramus at 35 Wollestraat - they do good inventive Belgian food, using Belgian beer in a lot of dishes, and have nice well-priced set menus.

If you want to push the boat out a bit more try Den Dyver at 5 Dyver - they do a special 3 course beer cuisine menu where you get a specially chosen beer with each course, for about 46 euros. Make sure you have plenty of time though, as the whole thing takes a while to get through.

Hi,

Give the Half Maan Brewery on Walplein a go.

Fantastic Beer ( $2.50euro ), and Great good value food ( international and Flemish ). You can get a great lunch there for $9 - $13 Euro for a main course.

I go there every time I visit Brugges.

Dear Madam, dear Sir,

It is of course great to sit on the terrace of the restaurants on the Market square, the view and ambiance is wonderful and this is why you will pay a bit more.

Fondue huisje is very good, anothe fondue place would be le Petit Patron in Nicolas Desparrestraat

Below I sent you a list of recommended restaurants we pass on to our guests at De Orangerie.

wishing you a great stay,

The best fondue in Bruges

Le Petit Patron

One of our favorite restaurants from a 2-week trip through Europe (including 5 nights in Paris) was Rock Fort in Brugge. It%26#39;s not on the main square, but that was a positive for us. Quiet and quaint has its advantages. The walk was very pleasant and we got to walk through a part of Brugge we would not have experienced otherwise.

We certainly felt our business was much appreciated and the service reflected that approach. The food was excellent, too! High quality, great value.

Does anyone have the website for Tom%26#39;s Diner? What is the best way to make reservations?

Also, my hubby and I are in Brugge for 3 nights in May. I am trying to find 2 other restaurants to try but they all sound so wonderful!?
