brussells-amsterdam

I need to go to amsterdam from brussells . I%26#39;ve found the Thalys company...or whatever it is that has good train price tickets. Only thing is I don%26#39;t know if they%26#39;re special offers , like youth tickets (for people under 25) are available at the local station or just on the internet. Also they don%26#39;t specify what kind of paper-work u need to prove ure under 25(would an ID-card be enough ?) . Please answer as soon as u see this, am in a hurry.

Strangely I just booked Amsterdam to Brussels today for 26 euros one way on the Thalys. I guess they have a youth fare fro 24 euros and I would always book on the internet to get the best fares. Not sure if they are always available on all trains and since you need reservations then booking ahead is always advisable. I guess a passport or national ID card would be enough proof, maybe a driving licence but since I am way over 25 not so sure.

You need to specify on the booking that you want a youth ticket though to save the 2 euros.

Thalys does not have good priced tickets unless you book in advance, whether in person or on the internet, and of course you have to reserve and can only depart from Bruxelles-Midi. It is generally better to take the normal InterCity train, which is no slower on that line (given no highspeed track), which you don%26#39;t have to and even can%26#39;t reserve, and which you can take from Nord, Central or Midi.

The normal Thalys fare is €49 (Librys), this is what you would get if you wanted to go in a couple of days time. The normal IC fare, whether purchased in advance or at the station, one-way is €34.80, but there is a special fare called %26quot;Benelux youth homeprint%26quot; for €22.90 (%26quot;A fare for travellers aged 12 to 25. Only valid from 9 am on the Dutch Network - no time restrictions during the weekends, on bank holidays and during July and August%26quot;). This means you have to book over the internet and can%26#39;t take, say, the 07:19 train as you would arrive at the Dutch border too early.

There are also Benelux Weekend Return tickets on IC.

For youth fares you do need proof of your age which you will normally be asked for by a ticket inspector on the train, but since you will need to be travelling with your passport or national EU identity card between Belgium and the Netherlands, this is no problem.

P.S. - can%26#39;t NORMALLY take the 07:19 - but you can this month, of course. I don%26#39;t know when you would be travelling.

thx, i payed 22,90 for one ticket...they didn%26#39;t ask me for any papers:D

They don%26#39;t ask you for papers when you book, especially online! The ticket inspector asks for them on the train, if you have booked a fare which is based on age, i.e. child, youth (under-25), senior.
